Who needs leaks, when you could see a load of legitimate benchmarks? For all the latest, make sure you read our full Radeon RX 7700 XT review, where we provide our verdict on the latest AMD mid-range GPU, run a load of game tests, and compare it against the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Ti.
A new AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT benchmark leak shows the upcoming mid-range graphics card beating the company’s previous-generation RX 6800. Given the RX 6800 was a $579 card at launch and the AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT price is expected to be $450, it makes for an impressive showing.
The leaked 3DMark Time Spy benchmark also shows the upcoming RDNA 3 architecture-based AMD GPU will comfortably outperform the Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti, though it comes in just behind the RTX 4070. The latter is 5 percent faster than the RX 7700 XT, while AMD’s new card is 27 percent faster than the RTX 4060 Ti. The difference between the RX 6800 and RX 7700 XT is much tighter, with the new card being just 5 percent ahead.
These figures suggest the RX 7700 XT should slot into an ideal position in terms of price and performance, with it expected to cost only $50 or 12.5 percent more than the RTX 4060 Ti but deliver 27 percent higher performance. Meanwhile, the RTX 4070 is $150 or 33 percent more expensive yet only provides 5 percent extra performance.
Of course, this is only one benchmark, and a synthetic benchmark at that, rather than a real-world gaming test, so we can’t draw any strong conclusions yet. Moreover, Nvidia still has the advantage of better ray tracing performance and stronger support for DLSS technologies, particularly with DLSS 3 frame generation tech. AMD’s FSR is catching up but still can’t compete, giving current-generation Nvidia cards a performance and value advantage in those games that support certain DLSS features.
The leak comes via Twitter/X account @9550pro which posted a screenshot of GPU-Z showing the AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT specs along with text that reads ‘TS GPU ~17K’, which refers to the Time Spy test in 3DMark. Videocardz.com also helpfully collated these results against previous TimeSpy tests of their own, which are the test results we’ve referred to above and are pictured below.
The AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT will be launching alongside the AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT, with the latter expected to outperform the Nvidia RTX 4070 but come with a price tag of $500. This would undercut Nvidia’s main mid-range rival by $100.
