Renewed rumors abound of an impending Super upgrade for several of Nvidia’s mid-range GPUs. The new RTX 4080 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super, and RTX 4070 Super rumors suggest a refreshed lineup of the company’s graphics cards will be arriving in the near future.
That Nvidia might produce an upgraded Super version of its RTX 4080, RTX 4070 Ti, and RTX 4070 is not much of a surprise in general, and in fact is something we’ve seen in previous RTX 4000 Super rumors, although those rumors suggested an RTX 4060 Super would also be in the lineup. However, the renewed hints suggest the RTX 4000 Super release date could be sooner rather than later.
The latest leak comes from regular Twitter/X tech leaker hongxing2020, who lists the three new cards along with the words ‘date TDB…’. It’s hardly the most convincing of leaks but the account has a decent track record for previous leaks.
As to the RTX 4000 Super specs of the new cards, these have previously been speculated on as including upgrades in both GPU component counts and an increase in VRAM, potentially putting an end to the complaints users have had about performance being held back by low VRAM amounts. For instance, in our reviews of the RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti we found the 8GB VRAM of those cards caused severe stuttering in some games.
Not only could new RTX 4000 Super cards make for tempting upgrades themselves but the likely affect on prices of existing cards could turn the non-Super variants into great-value buys. That’s if AMD doesn’t also respond and drop the price if its competing cards, such as the RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT.
