Nvidia GeForce RTX 4000 Super specs leak shows big VRAM boosts

Seemingly responding to AMD and public pushback, Nvidia looks set to provide big increases in VRAM for its upcoming RTX 4000 Super range of gaming GPUs.

Nvidia RTX 4000 Super

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4000 Super specs have been leaked suggesting an upcoming refresh of the Nvidia RTX 4000 series of graphics cards could provide big increases in VRAM.

One of the chief complaints about the company’s 4000 series, based on the Nvidia Ada architecture, is that particularly the mid-range cards are rather lacking in graphics memory. The likes of the RTX 4070 has only 12GB while the first iteration of the RTX 4060 Ti has just 8GB. In a world where games will happily take up as much as 17.5GB of VRAM, these figures are seen as too low.

That all looks set to change, though, as rumors leaked via YouTuber Graphically Challenged suggest the company will be providing huge leaps in VRAM along with big bumps in CUDA core counts with its RTX 4000 Super / RTX 40 Super series.

In particular, the RTX 4060 Super is expected to get 12GB of VRAM, which wouldn’t be an increase on the upcoming RTX 4060 Ti 16GB but would be more than the current RTX 4060 Ti 8GB and upcoming RTX 4060 (non-Ti).

Next up is the RTX 4070 Super which is expected to house 16GB of VRAM, providing 4GB or 33 percent more graphics memory than the RTX 4070.

The RTX 4080 Super also gets a boost in memory of 4GB but the RTX 4090 Super doesn’t receive an increase from the 24GB of the RTX 4090. Both cards still get increases in CUDA cores, though. The full list of RTX 4000 Super leaked specs is below.

Nvidia RTX 4060 Super

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Super will bump up from the 8GB of VRAM of the GeForce RTX 4060 to 12GB VRAM, according to the leaked data. The card will also see a huge leap in CUDA cores, from 3,072 to 5,120, which if the pricing remains correct would mean a serious increase in value for this card.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Super release date will be Q2 2024, with it announced in Q1 2024, according to the latest leaks.

The expected Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Super price is $399, according to leaked data.

The leaked Nvidia RTX 4060 Super specs are:

CUDA cores 5,120
Memory bus 192-bit
Bandwidth 432GB/s
VRAM 12GB
TGP 200W
Price  $399

Nvidia RTX 4070 Super

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 Super is set to be $100 more than the RTX 4070 but it will get big spec increases across the board. CUDA cores will go from 5,888 to 8,192 while VRAM will increase from 12GB to 16GB according to this leaked data. Again, these would be very surprising increases if they come to pass.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Super release date will be Q1 2024, with it announced in Q4 2023, according to the latest leaks.

The expected Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Super price is $699, according to leaked data.

The leaked Nvidia RTX 4070 Super specs are:

CUDA cores 8,192
Memory bus 256-bit
Bandwidth  672GB/s
VRAM  16GB
TGP 280W
Price  $699

Nvidia RTX 4080 Super

The RTX 4080 Super will arrive at the same time as the RTX 4070 and cost the same as the existing RTX 4080, according to this leaked datat. Its specs also increase markedly, with the number of CUDA cores going from 9,728 to 13,312 while VRAM goes from 16GB up to 20GB.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super release date will be Q1 2024, with it announced in Q4 2023, according to the latest leaks.

The expected Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super price is $1,199, according to leaked data.

The leaked Nvidia RTX 4080 Super specs are:

CUDA cores 13,312
Memory bus 320-bit
Bandwidth  840GB/s
VRAM 20GB
TGP 350W
Price $1,199

Nvidia RTX 4090 Super

The RTX 4090 Super release date hasn’t been leaked but we would expect it to be the first of the RTX 4000 Super cards to be announced so may arrive in Q4 2023. Its price is expected to stay the same as the existing RTX 4090, at $1,999.

Unlike the other lower-tier cards, the RTX 4090 Super doesn’t get a VRAM increase but stays at 24GB, plus its CUDA core increase is proportionally rather low, going from 16,384 to 18,432 – that’s just 12 percent compared to 66 percent for the RTX 4060. Again, this is all leaked data though so plenty of details could change.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Super release date hasn’t been leaked yet but is likely to be Q4 2023.

The expected Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Super price is $1,999, according to leaked data.

The leaked Nvidia RTX 4090 Super specs are:

CUDA cores  18,432
Memory bus 384bit
Bandwidth 1,152GB/s
VRAM 24GB
TGP 450W
Price $1,999
