The spread of cat-themed kit seems to know no bounds as, joining the likes of the Razer Kitty Edition headset and gaming chair, we now have a cat-themed graphics card. Chinese company Colorfire – a subsidiary of Colorful – has announced a new range of cat-themed Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 series ‘meow’ graphics cards.
The new white and orange-colored cards feature cats’ paws running along their top edge, chubby cat faces on the fan hubs, and… well, that’s about it actually. For such a fun idea, the company has kept the design positively subtle.
However, Colorfire does accompany the launch with a full backstory for the cards which is translated from the original Chinese below.
“Cats and Dogs Star Trek
Humans living in Cyber City built the cosmic probe “Advanced” to search for habitable planets outside the earth. The warm environment inside the probe attracted stray cats and dogs to settle in, so the probe accidentally flew towards distant universe.
One of the orange cats touched the “evolution gun” by mistake, and the laser shot all the cats and dogs, making them evolve into intelligent creatures. The probe successfully arrived at a planet with an environment similar to that of the earth, but the probe may be damaged due to improper landing. So they established civilization on this barren planet. With the help of evolution guns, they have also helped many local animals to complete their evolution. Hundreds of years later, their science and technology developed to the level of human beings at the beginning of the 21st century.”
It’s a beautiful tale, we’re sure you’ll agree.
The new cards currently consist of an RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 Ti, though the suggestion is other cards will follow. Sadly, though, the cards are only being sold in China where they’re listed as costing 4799 RMB and 3199 RMB, though some customers may be able to use coupons to lower the price to 4499/3049, respectively.
For those of us in the west, though, there are of course plenty of more familiar RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 Ti cards to choose from. Meanwhile, if neither of those cards appeals, you can always check out our best graphics card guide for more choices.
