AMD confirms Ryzen 5 7500F won’t be on shop shelves outside China

It's sad news for those eyeing up AMD's new budget 7000 series CPU, the AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, which looked set to be a great option for many gamers.

AMD has confirmed that its just-announced AMD Ryzen 5 7500F CPU is a China exclusive, at least as a boxed CPU that consumers can buy directly. In other regions the CPU will still be available but only to certain system integrators (PC builders) for use in pre-built PCs.

This is sad news as the 7500F looked to offer great value thanks to its $179 price tag and solid performance from its six cores that clock up to 5GHz. With AMD’s next cheapest 7000 series CPU being the $219 Ryzen 5 7600, this new chip offered a decent saving while giving up almost nothing in terms of performance. Here’s hoping AMD changes its mind in the future.

The confirmation comes via Markus Lindner, an AMD spokesperson in Germany who spoke to German tech blog HardwareLuxx about the processor, saying that ‘This processor model will be available starting July 23, 2023 at 9PM ET. It will be available in greater china as a processor-in-box, and in the rest of world as an option for select system builders.’
