The last GPU generation’s most powerful pixel pusher was the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, but there were rumors of another powerhouse Nvidia card in the pipeline. Although the rumored product never made it out the doors, new Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Super pictures are still being unearthed. The latest image, appearing on Twitter, appears to show a prototype of the high-end graphics card in the flesh.
Twitter user @KittyYYuko shared a picture of what looks to be a Founder’s Edition of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Super on their account. While difficult to verify, it isn’t the first time pictures of the card-that-never-was have cropped up online. The card in the image could easily be a prototype of what eventually became the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti.
The pictured RTX 3090 Super certainly enjoys a remarkably similar design to the existing RTX 3090 Ti Founders Edition card. For instance, it has the same massive, flow-through cooler design, although the matte black and metallic look is a little different from what Nvidia eventually chose to release.
It’s possible that Nvidia is planning to release some GeForce RTX 4000 Super cards in the future as well, although there hasn’t been any official confirmation on this front. As it stands, we might have to wait until the next generation to unlock greater performance than what’s currently on the market. Check out our speculation on the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5000 release date to find out when those cards could arrive with us.
In the meantime, if you’re looking for a high-end graphics card, the best option by far is the GeForce RTX 4090, which offers incredible 4K gaming performance, even with ray tracing, and also supports DLSS 3 to massively boost frame rates further.
