A new AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D deal means the chip is just $326 right now on Amazon.com while recent price drops have seen it fall to under £300 for the first time ever in the UK, making it an ideal time to snap up this fantastic gaming CPU.
While the chip has always been a great option for those seeking to get the maximum gaming performance possible from their AM4 systems – the one socket used for all previous AMD Ryzen CPUs but which now has been replaced by AM5 for Ryzen 7000 series CPUs – it was always quite expensive.
For an eight-core chip to have an MSRP of $459 at launch put it far below other comparable chips when it came to bang-for-buck – it was only its excellent gaming performance thanks to its 3D V-Cache that the chip was even close to competitive in terms of value and worthy of a place on our best CPU list.
Now, with newer CPUs such as the fantastic AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D getting the best frame rates, the price of the 5800X3D has steadily fallen, making it a great time to buy.
There’s always the chance that prices will drop even further in the coming weeks and months but there’s just as much chance that stock will disappear as the older chips are phased out in favor of newer models. Plus, the AM4 platform itself is not getting any younger so it’s worth making the most of it sooner rather than later.
