It’s not unusual for graphics card branding to take a turn for the dramatic but you have to hand it to XFX this year for their upcoming versions of the RX 5700 XT. THICC2 and Black Wolf Edition are stupendous names. We’ll have to wait and see for the cards, but what we do know is that they are both big.
The clue is in the name for the XFX Radeon RX 5700 XT THICC2. The card has been eyeballed by Videocardz.com and it is seems to be an absolute unit. A 2.5 slot card with twin 100mm fans and a back plate which suggests that it should at least be relatively quiet, given that it’s relative sports a blower. There’s no word on pricing or clock speeds with this behemoth yet, but both should be interesting given the sheer dimensions of the thing.
The XFX Radeon RX 5700 Black Wolf Edition, (pictures by PC Online) is another two and a half slot unit. This one sports twin fans and a back plate and though it doesn’t pick up as many points for style as the THICC2 there looks to be plenty of cooling to get the job done. Again, nothing concrete on a price or a clock speed.
A recurring theme both of the XFX and the Asus custom cooled RX 5700 ranges is the scale of the cooling gear required, with several two and a half slot designs making an appearance. Clearly the RX 5700 is not messing about and the decision AMD made to play it safe with a powerful reference cooler is looking more sensible by the day.
