Razer has just released a fancy new game stream controller, called the Stream Controller X. The compact desktop device sports 15 programmable LCD buttons, and Razer says it will enable streamers to easily flash lights in their streams, switch between software applications, output sounds and unicycle to the shops (maybe not) at the touch of a button.
At a price of $149, the Razer Stream Controller X is much cheaper than the existing Stream Controller, which currently goes for around $249, but it doesn’t have the analog dials and extra buttons.
The Stream Controller X interface is based on a Loupedeck Software system, which Razer says ensures plug-and-play support with all the big streaming platforms, including Twitch, Streamlabs, Adobe Premiere Pro and OBS Studio.
According to Razer, known for gaming peripherals such as the acclaimed Deathadder, the Loupedeck user interface enables streamers to install plugins, including ones for Spotify and Philips Hue. The icons on the interface can also be customized, with the ability to create matching themes and use animated GIFs.
Designed to sit neatly on your desk, the Razer Stream Controller X has a detachable magnetic stand that angles the controller at 50 degrees and has an anti-slip base. The controller sits at a slight angle of eight degrees without the stand.
Razer also says that each button on the Stream Controller X can be programmed as multi-link macro functions, enabling streamers to automate synchronized processes. “With creative customizations, users can quickly take screenshots or record on stream, making it easier to share their highlights with their audiences.”
