Corsair releases its fastest ever DDR4 RAM

The speediest Corsair Vengeance DDR4 gaming RAM kits now fall just shy of breaking the 5,000MHz barrier, but they'll cost you a pretty penny.

Corsair has announced that their Vengeance LPX DDR4 memory kits are soon to be available in their highest ever speed, and a record for commercially available RAM, 4,866MHz. This RAM will be available in 2x 8GB kits.

This new RAM is designed in partnership with AMD and so while it should be broadly compatible as you’d expect the highest speeds were devised specifically with AMD Ryzen 3000 based components in mind. Corsair claims that the ROG Crosshair VIII, the MSI MEG X570 Godlike and the MSI Prestige X570 Creation all reached the intended speed for the RAM using their automatic overclocking functionality. Findout out how much further it might be pushed is a job for a certifiable overclocking genius and possibly a couple of litres of liquid nitrogen (the current world record is 6,016MHz).

The Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro RAM has apparently also been getting a little work done, although the updates to the speed here top out at 4,700MHz.

Currently the Vengeance LPX 16GB RAM kits at 4,866MHz are available on the Corsair web store for an eye watering £974.99, but if you want what might be the fastest commercially available RAM in the world you can expect your wallet to weep a bit.
