Asus has just launched a new water-cooled GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card, which has an AIO liquid cooler with a 240mm radiator attached to the flagship Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU. Asus claims it “blows air-cooled designs out of the water.”
The Asus ROG Strix LC GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition has two modes, with the default mode running the GPU base clock at 2610MHz, and the overclock (OC) mode pushing it up to 2640MHz. Both modes are a fair way in front of the GPU’s 2520MHz stock base clock, however.
The cooler is based on the same design used for the Asus Strix LC Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti card from the last generation. Cleverly, all the cables required for the fans are threaded through the mesh on the cooler’s tubing, which will help reduce cable clutter.
There’s also loads of RGB lighting, both on the fans but also on the GPU waterblock itself. In addition to the liquid cooling for the GPU, there’s also a modicum of air cooling on the card for the VRMs, courtesy of a blower fan.
The cooler has a full-cover copper coldplate, which not only covers the GPU, but also the GDDR6X memory around it. Meanwhile, the long 560mm tubing provides some flexibility when it comes to installation, particularly if you have a large case.
The use of liquid cooling has also enabled Asus to reduce the width of the card to just 2.6 expansion slots, compared with over three slots for most RTX 4090 cards. The Asus ROG team discussed the launch of the new card in the video below:

Asus ROG Strix LC GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition price
The best estimate for the price of the Asus ROG Strix LC GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition is $2,399 (£2,299), based on the launch price of the Strix LC RTX 3090 Ti and the cost of a standard RTX 4090 card, as there has been no official price announcement yet.
Even in stock speed configurations, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 is an expensive GPU, with the Founders Edition still going for a price of $1,599 at the Nvidia store, but there’s no doubting that it’s also the fastest gaming GPU you can currently buy. It’s currently listed on our best graphics card guide as the best GPU for 4K gaming with ray tracing.
