Acer is seeing in the New Year by announcing three new gaming monitors from the Predator range. We have the 32in Predator X32, the 37.5in Predator X38 and the 55in Predator CG552K which, however you want to slice it, is an absolute behemoth. Although all three monitors are released under the Predator brand they are all quite different from each other beyond simply their different sizes.
The Predator X32 is a UHD (3840×2160) screen with an IPS panel, 144Hz refresh rate and compatibility with Nvidia G-Sync Ultimate. The stand allows for it to swivel as well as adjust height which makes it ideal as a primary or secondary monitor if you’re really looking for visual overkill. It also includes 3x HDMI inputs and a DisplayPort 1.4 as well as 4x USB 3.0 ports so it can serve as a hub for other devices and multiple systems.
The Predator X38 is an UWQHD+ monitor (3840x 1600) operating on a 2300R curve. This makes it considerably wider and thinner than its stablemate the X32. The refresh rate can be overclocked to a 175Hz and a 1ms G to G response time for precision gaming. The stand allows the screen to raise, swivel and tilt so you can achieve the perfect viewing angle and there are 4x USB 3.0s so you can connect controllers and other devices in order to keep your space less cluttered.
The Predator CG552K is more than just a monitor with a gigantic screen, but we really do need to talk about that gigantic screen, because seriously, it’s gigantic. The 55in screen is a 4K (3840×2160) OLED panel compatible with both Adaptive Sync and Nvidia G-Sync and boasting a refresh rate of 120Hz. As well as the giant screen the CG552K also has clever features like a light sensor to adjust screen brightness based on the light levels in the room. There is also a motion sensor so that the monitor wakes up from standby when somebody gets close. There are 2x HDMI inputs, 2x DisplayPort 1.4s and 4x USB ports, two 2.0s and two 3.0s. The Predator CG552K also has its own customisable light strips, because everything needs lights, and because it’s a bit late in the day to try to keep a low profile when you’re a monitor the size of an entire cow.
The X32 is expected in Q2 with an MSRP around $3599 US, the X38 is expected in April with an MSRP of $2399 US and the CG552K should be appearing around Q3 with a price tag around $2,999 US.
